Inspired by the incomparable beauty of the Bay of Kotor and Lovćen, we have crafted a route from the Boka Bay to Lovćen, from the turquoise waters to the "stone sea" – the very place where the story of Montenegro truly begins.

Our approach to this priceless region is environmentally oriented and sustainable, gradually developing our offerings to preserve the authenticity of every corner on which our Project relies.

The Kotor Cable Car project is being undertaken by a consortium that includes LEITNER - one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ropeway systems.

The history of Leitner dates back to 1888 when Gabriel Leitner founded a company specializing in agricultural machinery, material transport ropeways, water wheels, and sawmills.

As early as 1908, the company embarked on a remarkable feat of infrastructure by constructing the first passenger ropeway in Central Europe, the Kohlernbahn in Bolzano, Italy.

Today, Leitner is a trailblazer, offering cutting-edge solutions and boasting a diverse portfolio of projects. Their products are distinguished by their exceptional quality, unparalleled functionality, and sophisticated design.

In strict compliance with international and European standards and directives, Leitner ensures that their production processes and products guarantee safety, quality, and reliability.

The story of the cable car carries a rich historical backdrop, taking us back a century to the tumultuous era of World War I. In 1916, amidst the chaos of war, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy initiated the construction of the "Kotor - Cetinje" cable car. Its purpose? To facilitate the vital transportation of equipment for military needs.

This ambitious project involved the creation of three cable car segments: Škurda - Krstac, Škaljari - Krstac, and Krstac - Cetinje. Overcoming the demanding elevation changes and challenging terrain of a war-torn landscape, it stood as a true testament to extraordinary infrastructure efforts. Upon completing the third segment to Cetinje, the cable car achieved a remarkable feat, ferrying an astonishing 110 tons of materials daily.

Regrettably, its operation came to an end in late 1918. Despite local aspirations and fervent desires, the cable car was never revived.

However, the idea remained, a distant vision of connecting Lovćen and the sea.

We aim to create a quality, diversified tourism experience that adds new value while responsibly utilizing environmental resources. We deeply respect for the socio-cultural authenticity of Kotor and the Lovćen region, seeking to uphold and celebrate their unique heritage.

Everything we do is driven by sustainability - from our design approach and materials to the creation of activities that celebrate nature without disrupting it, as well as the promotion of the unique features of the Montenegrin region.

As we progress, our project will significantly reducetraffic along the old Njeguši to Kotor road, effectively curbing CO2 emissions and leaving a lasting, sustainable impact on both the coastal and hinterland areas.
